Boiler & Steam

Protect the boiler, feedwater and condensate system.

Water treatment for reliable heat transfer, steam quality and condensate return.

System approach

Treatment tailored to your installation

Boiler-water treatment requires an integrated approach to pretreatment, oxygen control, boiler chemistry, blowdown management and condensate protection.

Signals to investigate

  • Deposits or hot spots on heated surfaces
  • Corrosion in the feedwater or condensate circuit
  • Unstable conductivity or alkalinity
  • Lower proportion of condensate return

Boiler-water programme

An integrated approach to alkalinity, dispersion and deposit control.

From product to programme

Make selection, dosing and performance verifiable

A treatment programme is complete only when it is clear in advance what is assessed, how it is applied and which measurements will be used to verify performance.

What we assess technically

  • Boiler pressure, steam use, load profile and steam-quality requirements
  • Pretreatment, deaeration and quality of feedwater and condensate
  • Materials, condensate return and locations at risk of oxygen ingress
  • Current boiler chemistry, blowdown control, sampling and analytical method

What we monitor during operation

  • Conductivity, pH, alkalinity and specified product or residual parameters
  • Iron and copper transport in feedwater, boiler water and condensate
  • Proportion of condensate return, make-up water and blowdown
  • Heat transfer, fouling indicators and stability during load changes

Frequently asked questions

Technical choices require system context

These answers provide initial direction. The final approach follows from the installation data and product documentation.

Is the same treatment programme suitable for every steam boiler?

No. Operating pressure, pretreatment, steam use, condensate return and materials determine the permitted and technically appropriate chemistry.

Is an oxygen scavenger always required?

Not automatically. The choice depends on deaeration, temperature, residual oxygen, system design and the requirements applicable to the installation.

Why is condensate return so important?

Condensate can return heat and treated water, but contamination or corrosion in the return circuit can affect the entire system. Its quality must therefore be monitored.

A specific challenge?

Discuss your water system with a specialist.

Briefly describe what you observe in the installation. Together, we will determine the most logical first step.
